Blog Tour: The Adventurer’s Guide to Dragons (And Why They Keep Biting Me) by Wade Albert White

Whoa. That is one mouthful of a blog post title, isn’t it? But I seriously couldn’t NOT include the parenthesis, because that’s like my favorite part of this book – how darn quippy it is.

If you haven’t read The Adventurer’s Guide series yet, RUN don’t walk to the nearest [local] bookstore and do yourself (and your community) a favor and buy both books now.

You won’t regret it.

When I picked up book one, The Adventurer’s Guide to Successful Escapades, at BEA two years ago I had no idea what it was about. I just liked the title and thought the cover was bright and perfect for photos. How could I have known then the crazy adventure I would be getting myself into by reading it?

51rxvoG0dsL._SX334_BO1,204,203,200_.jpgThe Adventurer’s Guide to Dragons (And Why They Keep Biting Me) is every bit as HILARIOUS and heartfelt as the first book; perhaps even more so. The story starts off at the annual Quest Academy awards, where our favorite dynamic trio are competing for Best Illegal Quest That Nearly Destroyed the Entire World. See what I mean? These books will crack you up from the getgo! And it doesn’t stop there.

Of course, Anne’s gauntlet gets stolen and before you know it Anne, Penelope and Hiro find themselves thrust into another quest (a better quest, if you ask me, because I am a total softy for dragons all day every day). They’re supposed to kill the dragon queen but they have a problem. Anne, like me, turns out to be a total dragon softy and she doesn’t want to kill dragons!

What follows is a whimsical and fantastical romp through the incredibly rich world Wade has created. Anne, Hiro, and Penelope are fantastic #squadgoals kind of friends, and I would so totally love to go adventuring (or anti-adevnturing) with them any day. They make me laugh so freaking hard. I honestly don’t know the last time I laughed so hard while reading a book. Every single page is hilarious.

This would make a fantastic book to read out loud to your kids – I’m definitely putting it on the list for when Dallin is a little tiny bit older. He’s going to love it!

Plus, there are DRAGONS. And I love DRAGONS. So, obviously, this is a huge win for me. My biggest complaint is that I have to wait for another book and there’s no release date or anything in sight!

He owns one pretend cat and one real one, and they get along fabulously.

About The Book:

Get ready for dragons, robots, and an even more dangerous quest in the sequel to The Adventurer’s Guide to Successful Escapes!
Anne, Penelope, and Hiro have returned to Saint Lupin’s Quest Academy for Consistently Dangerous and Absolutely Terrifying Adventures, where there’s only one way to leave: pass or fail. At the annual Quest Academy awards, they’re recognized for their success in their first outing-Best Illegal Quest That Nearly Destroyed the Entire World–but a strange boy steals Anne’s gauntlet and activates a new quest that pits them against all of dragonkind. Their charge: kill the dragon queen. The problem is, Anne doesn’t want to kill any dragons! But ignoring a quest can have horrible consequences, just as killing the dragon queen would start an all-out war between people and dragons. To avert disaster, Anne and her friends will have to dodge robot attacks, defeat new foes, and survive the dangerous dragon trials just for a chance to explain.
